Actress and "The Talk" co-host Sara Gilbert married her fiancee over the weekend, while pop-music icon Sir Elton John plans to marry his current civil partner in May now that gay marriage became legal in England on Saturday.

Gilbert's representative confirmed to Us Weekly Monday that Gilbert, 39, and songwriter Linda Perry, 48, wed on Sunday, but gave no details. A representative for CBS told the magazine that Gilbert will be absent from "The Talk" this week.

Meanwhile, David Furnish, 51, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he and Sir Elton, 67, will be married in an English registry office in May. They entered a civil partnership on Dec. 21, 2005, the first day such partnerships became legal in England.

"We don't feel the need to take an extra step legally," Furnish said. "But since we're committed for life, we feel it's really important to take that step, and take advantage of that amazing change in legislation. We all live by example."
