Schools can't handle immigration burden

State governments are slashing funds to schools, forcing districts to fire thousands of teachers, threatening the quality of education American students are getting. And now the government has the audacity to require school districts to provide free education to children of illegal, noncitizen, nontaxpaying immigrants ["No closer on immigration reform," Editorial, May 12].
Isn't it about time for the media to call on the courts, the Congress and the president to enforce federal laws, and return America to its legal citizens?
