Schuler leads Connetquot to AA semifinal
Angela Schuler had two hits and an RBI as No. 11 Connetquot upset third-seeded Half Hollow Hills West, 5-4, Thursday in a Suffolk Class AA softball quarterfinal.
Erin Sweeney went 2-for-3 for the Thunderbirds (15-7). Connetquot survived a scare in the bottom of the seventh, as Angela Giangregorio caught a fly ball for the second out and helped start a run-down for the final out.
Connetquot will play at No. 2 Longwood in a semifinal at 2 p.m. Saturday.
BASEBALL
Calhoun 5, Massapequa 4: Alex Vargas pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts and Thomas Viverito went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for Calhoun (20-3) in a Class AA semifinal.
BOYS LACROSSE
Comsewogue 10, Hauppauge 7: Kenny Scotland and Danny Infanzon each had two goals and two assists for top-seeded Comsewogue (16-1) in a Suffolk Class B semifinal. Comsewogue plays No. 2 Sayville for the championship at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stony Brook.
