Schumer wants feds to stock up on whooping cough vaccines
Sen. Charles Schumer called on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Sunday to take action to head off a rapid rise of whooping cough cases.
He wants the CDC to provide free vaccinations, launch an awareness campaign for adults who haven't been recently vaccinated and ensure adequate supplies of the vaccine are available.
Nationwide, there are 18,000 reported cases so far this year, with 1,288 reported in New York state.
