Seaford High School students mourn loss of Joseph Tutaj

The students of Seaford High School mourned the loss of a fellow student who died in California on Tuesday at a service at Saint William the Abbot Church.

Joseph Tutaj, 15, was on a marching band trip to perform in Disney Land when he was taken to the hospital with a high fever.

Students spoke of Joseph as the kind of person who made the best out of everything.

The Tutaj family has been suffering some horrible luck recently. Joseph's father is battling stage 4 cancer, and the family's home was flooded out during Sandy. They have since been living in Bethpage.

School officials say the hospital where Joseph died confirmed that what he had was not contagious. It is unclear right now what caused the teenager's death.
