Comic Tig Notaro got serious in acclaimed series "Transparent" (Season 1 now on Amazon Instant Video). It's women this weekend on Summer Under the Stars, when Turner Classic Movies' daily film festivals pinpoint what made a studio-era movie star on the continent vs. the continental U.S. of A. Saturday, exotic Marlene Dietrich moves from her gritty star-making German movie "The Blue Angel" (9:15 a.m.), through the German-set docudrama "Judgment at Nuremberg" (4:45 p.m.), into the elegant train-trip romance "Shanghai Express" (10:15 p.m.). Sunday, it's plucky Debbie Reynolds, giving it her go-getting all with American icons Frank Sinatra in "The Tender Trap" (12:15 p.m.), Gene Kelly in "Singin' in the Rain" (8 p.m.) and Dick Van Dyke in "Divorce, American Style" (10 p.m.) -- that last one directed by just-passed comedy king Bud Yorkin ("All in the Family").
