Seide's hoop with 6.5 left gives Holy Trinity win

Melinda Seide hit a short jump hook off a feed from Meghan Orlando with 6.5 seconds left in regulation as Holy Trinity edged Sacred Heart, 53-52, last night in a CHSAA girls game.

Seide's shot gave the Titans (12-11, 6-7 CHSAA) a 53-51 lead. Sacred Heart had a chance to tie the score but missed the second of two free throws with 2.2 seconds left.

Holy Trinity's Kelly Carey hit a three-pointer with 50 seconds left to tie the score at 51. Kristen Korzevinski led Holy Trinity with 17 points, Katie Poppe added 15 points and nine rebounds and Orlando chipped in five points and 10 assists. Nina Corcoran led Sacred Heart with 19 points and Kristen Brent scored 14 points.

NASSAU CLASS AA QUARTERFINALS

Uniondale 62, Great Neck South 38:Ifeanyi Ofili had 18 points and Aliyah McDonald added 14 points and seven rebounds for No. 1 Uniondale (12-6) in a win over No. 8 Great Neck South. Uniondale will take on No. 4 MacArthur in a semifinal at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Herricks. Michelle Ross had 15 points for Great Neck South.

Baldwin 53, Syosset 30: Courtney Jackson had 20 points and four rebounds to lead No. 2 Baldwin (14-4) past No. 10 Syosset. Shayna Gatling had 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists and Alex Hampton had five assists and six steals for the Bruins, who will take on No. 3 Massapequa in a semifinal at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Herricks. Lauren Maturo and Victoria Savarese each had 10 points for Syosset.Massapequa 66, Mepham 40: Andrea Arnold had all 14 of her points in a 40-26 second half for third-seeded Massapequa (12-6). Nikki Daly had 10 of her 15 points in the first half and Danielle Doherty chipped in 11 points and seven assists. Alex Leung had 16 points, including three three-pointers to lead Mepham.

NON-LEAGUE

Kellenberg 64, Bishop Kearney 43: Emma O'Connor had 27 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, six steals and six blocks to lead Kellenberg (13-5). Khadijah Donaldson added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Nicole Trepeta scored 13 points for the Firebirds.
