Seminar in Seaford to tackle Sandy-related stress

The Seaford Public Library will offer a “Coping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder” seminar on Tuesday for residents affected by superstorm Sandy.
The free event will be held at 7 p.m. in the library, on 2234 Jackson Ave. in Seaford. The meeting room has a capacity of 75 people.
The guest speaker will be Robert Motta, a professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in school-community psychology at Hofstra University. Motta will discuss psychological trauma, including an extensive overview of common signs and symptoms, as well as what can be done to help alleviate those distressing feelings.
“The Library Trustees recognized that there was more than just the physical damage when Hurricane Sandy rolled through Seaford,” library president Peter J. Ruffner said in a statement. “The emotional toll this superstorm caused was severe ... We truly hope this program will continue the process of assisting the people of Seaford recover from this hurricane.”
