The sentencing of former Hempstead Town Clerk Mark Bonilla, which had been scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed until Oct. 7, a spokesman for the Nassau County district attorney's office said Wednesday.

Bonilla was convicted of official misconduct in July. The conviction resulted in his removal from office.

Judge Sharon Gianelli, who found Bonilla guilty, requested that the sentencing be postponed, the district attorney's spokesman said. The sentencing will take place at First District Court in Hempstead.

Bonilla's trial focused on allegations that he tried to obtain intimate photos of a female subordinate who accused him of sexual harassment.

Gianelli found Bonilla not guilty of three other charges -- another count of official misconduct, coercion, and attempted petty larceny.

Bonilla, a Republican, faces up to a year in jail for the misdemeanor conviction.
