Commack High School’s Julia Gordon, the Suffolk County Scholar Artist for September

Commack High School’s Julia Gordon proudly serves as Captain of the award-winning Commack Varsity Cougarettes. In addition, she has been enrolled in the school’s two-year International Baccalaureate Dance program. Julia credits her mother, a dance educator, for immersing her in the art of dance. She hopes to lead her team to victory at National Dance Alliance's Competition in Orlando, Florida in March.

Julia is a member of the National Honor Society and Treasurer of the Italian Honor Society; she has volunteered as a dance teacher at the Cougarette for a Day event for the benefit of children in her community, and at a soup kitchen every Thanksgiving; she has participated in the dance benefit Dancers Responding to Aids as well as other community-service events including Relay for Life and the Long Island Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach.
