Hewlett road closed after serious accident, police say

Nassau police said they shut down a portion of Peninsula Boulevard in Hewlett late Sunday as they investigated a serious auto accident.

A Nassau police spokesman said the department received a call at about 9:52 p.m. reporting a “serious auto accident” on Peninsula Boulevard near Avon Road.

As of 11:15 p.m., the roadway remained shut in the area, but details about the nature of the accident or whether any injuries were involved were not immediately available, police said.
