Service on the Long Island Rail Road's Ronkonkoma branch has been suspended in both directions between Ronkonkoma and Hicksville due to a train striking a vehicle east of Deer Park, according to a statement released by the MTA.

The 6:24 a.m. and 6:37 a.m. trains from Ronkonkoma, and the 6:54 a.m. train from Central Islip, have been canceled due to the accident. Buses will accomodate riders to Hicksville, the MTA said.

Customers are advised to use other branches, such as the Huntington/Port Jefferson branch and the Babylon branch, the statement said. Commuters on those branches should expect crowded trains.

LIRR trains normally scheduled to depart from Farmingdale and Bethpage are not canceled.

There was no further information about the accident.
