LOOSE DOGS. The Shelter Island Town board meets today at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall and will hold a public hearing on a proposal to impose a $25 fine on dogs picked up while running loose and held by animal control officials. Check Mitchell Freedman’s Twitter updates @eastwatch.
HEMPSTEAD VILLAGE WARRANT RESOLUTION. Hempstead Village will hold its first Project Safe Surrender tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Calvary Tabernacle Church. Individuals facing warrants for village code violations can turn themselves in to clergy and law enforcement, and have their tickets resolved on the spot. HEMPSTEAD SPELLING BEE. The Hofstra Long Island Regional Spelling Bee will be Sunday at the university’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse. The winner advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. The event is not open to the public. Check Lauren Harrison’s Twitter updates @LaurenHarrisonR.
