Shields' four-hitter lifts Rays
James Shields pitched a four-hitter for his second straight complete game and Ben Zobrist hit a two-run homer as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Blue Jays, 2-0, yesterday in Toronto.
Shields (2-1) struck out seven, walked two and lowered his ERA to 2.35. The Rays won for the 10th time in 13 games after a 1-8 start.
"It felt really good," Shields said. "Obviously, being able to throw back-to-back complete games is something special."
