Pine Barrens Discovery Day is Saturday and features nature walks, games, activities and exhibits at the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge in Shirley.

Held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the LI Complex Visitors Center at 340 Smith Rd., the event is sponsored by the Central Pine Barrens Commission and the refuge.

Workshop presentations will discuss local birds of prey, marine life, flying squirrels, fire towers, fire rangers and wildlife forensics.

Naturalists will lead guided walks along the Black Tupelo and White Oak trails.

Wear sunscreen and insect repellent.

The rain date is Sunday.
