Hours before the first snowflakes were expected to fall Friday, Long Islanders were already stocking up on supplies at the Home Depot in Westbury.

Employees told Newsday that in the first hour after the store opened at 6 a.m., they had already received more than 80 online orders for snow-removal items.

Michael Kim, 40, of Roslyn, arrived at the store around 8:20 a.m. to buy salt and a heavy-duty shovel, among other items.

Scot Jandly, 69, of Westbury, said he and his wife came early to “beat the rush.”

And, he added, “We needed to get out of the house and get some fresh air.”
