Shoreham-Wading River had success as a team over the weekend at the Joe Davidson Memorial Duals at Sachem North, finishing 7-1 across the two-day multi-team meet.

Especially impressive was Shoreham-Wading River’s T.J. Fabian. The senior returned this year with some unfinished business. The rivalry between Fabian and Sayville’s Matt Leshinger is one of the best in the state after they squared off four times last year with Leshinger winning three, including in the county finals and the 3rd/4th consolation match at the State tournament.

Any early season match up for Fabian is a warm-up for what’s to come in February, and Fabian made it through the weekend at Sachem North with a sterling 8-0 record at 126 pounds.

“I had a couple of tough matches but really wrestling so much early will help me figure out what I need to improve on,” he said. “I want to be in the best shape of my life and win the counties and win the states and just win it all.”
