This should be a wild one.
The Huntington School District is holding its first meeting tonight following its decision last month to create a districtwide sixth-grade center at Jack Abrams Intermediate School.
Since the decision, which came as a result of debate over violence near the school, opponents have picketed outside town hall and mobilized through e-mail and Facebook as they investigate ways to derail the plan. They also created an online petition that lays out several alternatives, including creating a community center at Jack Abrams, or turning the former Touro Law School building into the sixth-grade center.
The board meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at Jack Abrams, 155 Lowndes Ave., Huntington Station.
