Shutdown forces delay of monthly jobs report
Investors on Long Island and some businesses are already missing a key tool that many of them use in their work because of the shutdown: The Bureau of Labor Statistics is not releasing its job report, which typically comes out on the first Friday of the month.
“This website is currently not being updated due to the suspension of Federal government services,” reads a message on the BLS site.
This BLS suspension — if the shutdown continues for an extended period — could also impact or delay a range of other data that includes the upcoming Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI).
