Check out this two-minute stretch in Glenn's girls lacrosse game against Mattituck Monday: Monika Sivilli's overhand blast gives the Knights a three-goal lead with 14:09 left in the first half. About 50 seconds later, Maddlyn Sivilli scores to make it a four-goal lead . . . on an assist from Mackenzie Sivilli.
A snap shot from the second half: Goal, followed by a goal, followed by another goal, by Mackenzie, Monika and Maddlyn, in that order.
Suffice to say, the sibling synergy was strong for Glenn in a 14-8 win against host Mattituck/Greenport/Southold in Suffolk Division II action.
"They're our three leading scorers and I do think being siblings helps," coach Marianne Lilli said. "They know where the other is going to be."
The Sivillis -- Maddlyn, the senior, Mackenzie, the sophomore, and Monika, the freshman -- scored 12 of the Knights' goals. Amelia Biancardi's back-to-back goals opened the scoring for Glenn (3-4), which never trailed.
After Monika Sivilli (six goals) scored to make it 7-2 with 2:43 left in the first half, Mattituck responded with the next three goals, capped by Laurel Bertolas' one-timer off a behind-the-net feed from Sydney Sanders to make it 7-5 with 22:57 left in the game. Mackenzie Sivilli (three goals, three assists) and Mattituck's Katie Hoeg exchanged goals before the Knights broke away on goals by Monika (assisted by Mackenzie) and Maddlyn to make it 10-6 with 18:45 left.
Hoeg finished with four goals, while Trish Brisotti paced Mattituck (0-8) with two assists, six ground balls and three draw controls.
"We really tried to take our time and not force it as much," Maddlyn (three goals) said of Mattituck's surge. As for the sister act, she called it "really awesome, because I learn as much as I can from them."
That includes sister Mary-Kate, now playing at Princeton.
"We've been playing together for three years," Mackenzie said, including longer with Monika, who is closer to her age. "I know what moves they're going to make, I know where they're going to go."
Said Monika: "I think it's sibling . . . uh . . . tele . . . " She trailed off, searching for the word. Then, all three girls said at once, "Telepathy."
