Massapequa leads Oceanside at halftime despite injury to QB
Massapequa leads Oceanside at halftime, 19-0, despite starting quarterback Luke Garguilo coming out of the game with an apparent knee injury in the first quarter. Last year’s Snyder Award winner as Nassau’s top QB exited the game after Massapequa’s second possession ended in a field goal by Caden Bowen with 7:48 left in the first quarter. Garguilo had his right knee wrapped in ice for the remainder of the quarter and walked up and down the sideline with his helmet on for much of the second quarter.
Junior Blake Seidenstein has filled in admirably in his absence. Seidenstein’s first pass went 64 yards to Justin Farrell for a touchdown to give Massapequa a 17-0 lead with 5:11 left in the first quarter.
Dylan Milio returned the opening kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown. Michael Ippolito has two interceptions, and Nick Lopez recovered a fumble. Ryan Chabus and Giovanni Tarasi teamed up for a tackle in the end zone for a safety with 11 seconds left in the first half.
