Smithtown Festival Day is Sunday

Main Street traffic  will give way to a food court and face painters for the town’s annual outdoor party on Sunday in Smithtown.

The 23rd annual Smithtown Festival Day will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on seven blocks between Maple Avenue and Route 111. Main Street will be closed to traffic.

Organizers expect to see 15,000 to 18,000 people at the festival, said Barbara Franco, executive director of the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the event. The festival will take place rain or shine, Franco said, and will include more than 350 vendors selling food and arts and crafts. Many restaurants are expected to set up tables and chairs outside.

For children, there will be inflatable rides, caricature artists and face painters.

Music will be performed by groups such as the Nesaquake Fiddle Club, the Smithtown High School East Trombone Quartet, the Smithtown High School West Jazz Choir and the Smithtown Elementary Choir. There will be performances by a chorus line dance group and baton twirlers.

Admission is free.
