Smithtown-Hauppauge and Long Beach swept their way to hockey championships Wednesday night.

Long Beach proved it can dominate either county, beating Syosset, 10-1, to capture the Nassau Michelino hockey championship a year after being crowned the Suffolk league champion. Long Beach played in the Suffolk league last season due to an insurance dispute.

Evan Schwartz scored a hat trick and Tom McGovern had five assists as Long Beach won the clinching Game 2 of the best-of-three series. The Marines beat Syosset in Game 1 Tuesday, 4-2.

A couple of unsung heroes helped lead Smithtown in Suffolk. Third-line center Joseph Rubino scored the go-ahead goal during the third period of the clinching Game 2 and fourth-line forward Jonathan Gianchetta added an insurance goal as the Bulls beat Connetquot-Sayville, 4-2.
