Candidates for Suffolk County executive, Smithtown town council and the county legislature have been invited to appear Thursday at a forum sponsored by the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce.

The meet-the-candidates gathering will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the Brush Barn, at 211 Middle Country Rd. It is open to the public.

Candidates will make a brief presentation and take questions from the audience, said Chamber of Commerce president Barbara Franco.

The two candidates for county executive, Republican Angie Carpenter and Democrat Steve Bellone, have been invited to attend, but Franco could not say whether they will appear.

Town council candidates, including Republican incumbents Robert Creighton and Edward Wehrheim and Democratic challengers Howard Knispel and Teresa Haft, were invited to appear. Also invited were county Legis. John Kennedy (R-Nesconset) and his Democratic opponent, Martin Aponte.

Admission is $20 for lunch. To make mandatory reservations, call 631-979-8069 or email bfranco@smithtownchamber.org.
