Snow on the way to LI

Long Island is going to take a step backward into winter Wednesday as a system from the midwest makes its way toward the East Coast.
Right now it looks as though accumulation, if any, will occur Wednesday evening once temperatures drop to the low 30s.
So roads should be fine for the Wednesday morning commute, with just a slight chance of a sprinkle or flurry. Throughout the day Wednesday, however, things could get messy, especially toward the evening commute.
Accumulations for Wednesday night are difficult to predict. It looks like anywhere from 1 to 3 inches could fall across LI, with higher amounts north and west of the city.
But much of it may not even stick to some surfaces, so roads could just turn slushy and slippery. Drivers will definitely need to keep an eye out for that.
