Heavy snowfall blanketed Huntington in less than an hour, leaving a thick, powdery coating on roads, making for a slick commute for visitors to the downtown destination.
But the storm didn’t deter visitors from going to restaurants and concerts or playing in the snow before the town’s Christmas tree at the Huntington Holiday Spectacular.
Kids made snowballs next to oversized ornaments in the freshly fallen snow, took turns sitting in Santa’s chair and warmed up with hot chocolate.
“It’s perfect on a winter break, when you can stay up late all night and you don't have to worry about school tomorrow,” said Charlotte Szczurowski, 41, of Huntington.
An elementary school teacher, she said she was happy it wasn’t a snow day or remote leaning.
The family was visiting downtown Huntington with family after watching a movie and took the chance to play in the snow.
They said it was perfect snow to build a snowman. “It’s very nostalgic,” she said.
