Nearly a month after the devastation of superstorm Sandy, many of those affected may find it difficult to give thanks. Still, LIPA and monumental problems notwithstanding, Long Islanders are thankful for their families, friends and neighbors who offered shelter and support. Although it pales in comparison to the storm, and since I cover the financial beat, this is my opportunity to express thanks for some of the positive developments in the financial world.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clearly, there is still a long way to go before the economy is on firmer footing. But given the depth of the recession and financial crisis, we should be thankful that we are moving in the right direction.
