Southampton Town will soon have a Wi-Fi system installed at its town hall location, and it will be free to the public.

Officials say the Wi-Fi, which will allow wireless access for communication devices such as cellphones and iPads, will be available free of charge to anyone in the building.

The town wireless service was first proposed as a capital project in 2009, but was not immediately implemented. Instead, the money was held over and the project is due to be completed by April 15.

The total cost is $65,000, including equipment costs.
