Suffolk Legis. Kate M. Browning will call Monday for shutting down Southaven Park's trap and skeet range. Its operator, Mark Wroobel, was among nine Nassau gunshop owners arrested for allegedly selling illegal assault weapons to undercover investigators. The Shirley lawmaker has called a news conference with local residents to press Parks Commissioner Joseph Montuori to investigate the range, which also has a store that rents firearms and sells ammunition. She said the county should end its contract with Wroobel in light of the charges. Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice charged Wroobel, of Smithtown, and his Hunter Sports business in Massapequa, with two felony counts and two misdemeanor violations of firearm licensing provisions.
