Heat's championship parade
draws hundreds of thousands
The NBA championship trophy was center stage, bathed in white light and sitting on a pedestal. Each Heat player offered it a different greeting. Mike Miller bowed. Udonis Haslem kissed it three times. Chris Bosh hugged it, and LeBron James strolled past before waving at the crowd.
Two years after Dwyane Wade, James and Bosh opened their time together with a celebration, they got the party they really wanted Monday. Hundreds of thousands of people filled the streets of Miami for the championship parade, then 15,000 more got into AmericanAirlines Arena for a long, loud reception for the NBA's new kings.
"It's the best feeling I've ever had,'' James said. "This was my dream to be able to hoist that Larry O'Brien Trophy, hug it, grab it, never want to let it go."

Source: Griffin extortion target
A former Baylor basketball player faces federal extortion charges for allegedly threatening to release "derogatory information" about Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III. Richard Khamir Hurd's bond was set at $25,000 after his first appearance in federal court in Waco, Texas. A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that Griffin, the Baylor quarterback who was the Redskins' No. 2 overall pick, was the target of the alleged extortion attempt.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because authorities had not disclosed the detail. Court documents don't name Griffin.
