NFLCowboys' old home demolished

More than 20,000 people gathered at tailgate parties and other spots Sunday to watch fireworks go off one last time over Texas Stadium before a ton of dynamite lit up the Dallas Cowboys' longtime home and brought it to the ground. The building known for the giant hole in its roof - "so God can watch his team," according to local lore - was demolished by an implosion. The Cowboys played 38 seasons in Texas Stadium, winning five Super Bowls during that time. Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys and the stadium lease for $160 million in 1989. The blast turned out to be emotional, "more so than I thought it would be," Jones said.

Devils defeat Sabres for No. 2 seed

Jamie Langenbrunner scored an empty-net, power-play goal with 3 seconds left and the New Jersey Devils earned the No. 2 playoff seed in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres needed to win the game in regulation to earn the No. 2 seed and they pulled goalie Patrick Lalime with about 10 seconds to go to put an extra skater on the ice. Seconds later, Langenbrunner took a pass from Zach Parise and found the empty net. The Devils will meet seventh-seeded Philadelphia in the opening round of the playoffs. The Flyers beat New Jersey in five of six games this season.

Bulls beat Raptors, move into eighth

Derrick Rose scored 26 points, Joakim Noah had 18 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists as the Chicago Bulls beat the Toronto Raptors, 104-88, to take over eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Chicago has won eight of 12 since Noah returned from a foot injury that forced him to miss 10 games. The Bulls went 0-10 without him.

Holyfield, 47, KOs Botha, 41

Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield is using George Foreman's comeback more than 15 years ago as inspiration. The 47-year-old Holyfield (43-10-2, 28 KOs) knocked out 41-year-old Frans Botha with 2:05 left in the eighth round Saturday night in Las Vegas. Holyfield (43-10-2) knocked the defending champion down 31 seconds earlier with a right to the chin. - AP
