Running back Brian Westbrook was released Tuesday by the Eagles, ending a dynamic eight-year run marred by injuries. He led the league in yards from scrimmage with 2,104 in 2007, but he missed eight games last season with two concussions and an ankle injury. He was due $7.25 million next season.

NFLPA: 2010 uncapped

NFL union leader DeMaurice Smith sent a memo to players and agents saying it is likely no new collective-bargaining agreement will be reached and the 2010 season will be played without a salary cap.

Brandon Roy scored 10 points in the fourth quarter for the Trail Blazers, who handed the host Nets (5-52) a 102-93 loss . . .
