3 NFL players named,
but no evidence of crime
Three NFL players are named in a police report involving a woman who passed out in a Miami hotel and later woke up in a hospital not knowing how she got there, though Miami police said yesterday that there is no evidence of any crime. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and wide receiver Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette were with the woman at a Miami hotel where Lockette lives, according to the Miami Police Department report.
BASKETBALLNets preseason in China
As part of the NBA's Global Games initiative, the Nets will play the Kings in a pair of preseason contests in China next season. They'll meet Oct. 12 in Shanghai and Oct. 15 in Beijing, about nine months after the Nets beat the Hawks in London in regular-season action. It will mark the Nets' second trip to China in four years. They played preseason games in Beijing and Guangzhou in 2010. NHL
Players' concussion suit
Nine former players have sued the NHL over concussions, saying the league subjects its players to "devastating and long-term" health consequences by failing to warn players of the risks and consequences of head trauma. Among the players are former All-Star defenseman Brad Maxwell and Jack Carlson, whose brothers starred in the film "Slap Shot." The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Manhattan on Wednesday. -- AP
