Floyd Mayweather Jr. spent a night in a Las Vegas jail before his release Friday on a misdemeanor battery warrant stemming from an allegation that the boxer poked a security guard in the face last month outside his home.
Martin Erat scored a pair of power-play goals as the Nashville Predators won their fifth straight, 3-1 over the host Devils. . . . Marty Reasoner scored twice in the first period and Tomas Vokoun made 41 saves for host Florida in a 6-2 victory over Buffalo. The Panthers led 4-0 after the opening 20 minutes. Michael Frolik and Stephen Weiss each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Bryan McCabe and David Booth had the other Florida goals, while Shawn Matthias, Evgeny Dadonov and Chris Higgins each had two assists. Derek Roy and Tim Connolly scored for Buffalo, which was 4-1-1 in its previous six games.
GOLFSenior tournament to Westchester CC
The Westchester Country Club, host to a PGA Tour event from 1967 to 2007, will be the venue for a Champions Tour event in 2011, the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship Aug. 15-21. The event moves from suburban Baltimore and brings a senior event back to the metropolitan New York area after the demise of the tournament held on Long Island from 1988 to 2008.- AP
