Son of ex-Packers coach drowned while drunk
Toxicology reports show the son of Dolphins coach and former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin was drunk and had marijuana in his system when he fell into a river in Wisconsin and drowned. The police department in Oshkosh, Wis., said Wednesday that Michael Philbin, 21, had a blood-alcohol level of .176, more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system to drive, and also used marijuana at some point before he fell through the ice. His Jan. 8 death was ruled an accident.

Cornell's Pannell injured
Cornell senior attack Rob Pannell from Smithtown West broke his foot in the second half of the Big Red's victory over Army on Saturday and, according to a university spokesman "will be out at least a couple of weeks." Pannell will miss Saturday's game between No. 3 Cornell (3-0) and No. 1 Virginia (6-0) in Baltimore.

Long Islander Hanse
designs Olympic course
Long Island native Gil Hanse has been named the architect for the 2016 Olympic golf course in Rio de Janeiro, earning the honor over many major contenders who had sought to design the venue for the first Olympic golf competition in 112 years. Hanse, 48, runs a golf design firm based outside of Philadelphia, but he has deep roots in Babylon. His grandfather Gilbert C. Hanse served for 31 years as the village mayor.
3 at buzzer lifts Nets
Jordan Farmar hit a three-pointer from the right wing with 0.2 of a second left for the host Nets, who wasted an 18-point, second-half lead before beating the Clippers, 101-100. Deron Williams had 21 points as the Nets won the chippy game that featured five technical fouls. -- AP
