U.S. women edge Canada
Amy Rodriguez scored the winning goal in the 85th minute to lift the United States past Canada, 2-1, in Sandy, Utah, Saturday in its final tuneup before the London Olympics. Team USA plays its Olympic opener against France on July 25 in Glasgow, two days before the Opening Ceremonies.
Red Bulls draw
Jan Gunnar Solli tapped in a cross from Brandon Barklage in the fourth minute and the Red Bulls went on to tie host Toronto FC, 1-1.
CYCLING
Cancellara takes prologue
Fabian Cancellara, 31, of Switzerland, won his fifth opening-day prologue as the 99th Tour de France began in Liege, Belgium.
Bradley Wiggins, aiming to become the first Briton to win the Tour, was 7 seconds behind in second. Tejay van Garderen, a 23-year-old American, placed fourth -- 10 seconds behind Cancellara -- and earned the white jersey for the best young Tour rider.
Niners LB Smith injured
The San Francisco 49ers say linebacker Aldon Smith suffered minor injuries during an incident Friday night in San Jose, Calif., and that he is recovering comfortably. The team did not comment on the nature of the injuries but a person with knowledge of the situation says Smith suffered stab wounds. Smith, 22, had 14 sacks, most among NFL rookies last season.
Keselowski wins
Driving his backup car because of a crash Friday, Brad Keselowski raced to his series-leading third victory of the year last night, grabbing the lead with 55 laps remaining and holding off all challengers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Sparta, Ky.
