Kenseth wins at Dover
Matt Kenseth's decision to change only two instead of four tires on pit road paid off as he led the final 32 laps to win the Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway Sunday, his second win this season. Mark Martin was second, earning his first top-five of the season.
Suns executive comes out
Phoenix Suns president and CEO Rick Welts has revealed to the public that he is gay in a story posted on The New York Times' website. Welts said he wants to break down one of the last significant social barriers in sports. He began his 40-year NBA career as a ball boy for the Seattle SuperSonics and later joined the league office and was the architect of the All-Star Weekend.
Canucks win Game 1
Defenseman Kevin Bieksa tied it 7:02 into the third period and Henrik Sedin scored on a power play 1:19 later as the Vancouver Canucks opened their first Western Conference final in 17 years with a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks in Vancouver. Roberto Luongo made 27 saves for the Canucks.
Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau scored and Antti Niemi stopped 35 shots for the Sharks, coming off an emotional, draining Game 7 victory over Detroit on Thursday night.
