Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano kicked off a Children’s Sport Connection event Tuesday at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow to collect gently used sports equipment until Nov. 15 for adults and children with learning disabilities.

“With the help of our local children and parents, every child can enjoy the opportunity to play sports,” Mangano said during the news conference at the park’s Aquatic Center.

Equipment collected will benefit Adults and Children with Learning & Developmental Disabilities, Inc. with more than 20 group homes in Nassau County and a youth program for those with developmental and learning disabilities.

The monthlong drive will also benefit children from various programs throughout the county. Everyone is encouraged to donate their gently used and new golf clubs, baseball mitts, tennis rackets, skates, balls and any sports related items at the following locations:

Mangano’s office at 1550 Franklin Ave. in Mineola; Cedar Creek Park in Seaford; Wantagh Park; Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn; the ticket office at Eisenhower Park — golf; the Rev. Arthur Mackey Sr. Park in Roosevelt; the Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale; North Woodmere Park; Grant Park in Hewlett; Cantiague Park in Hicksville; and the Old Bethpage Village Restoration.
