TENNISAzarenka loses for first time in 2012
Top-ranked Victoria Azarenka lost for the first time this year when she was beaten by Marion Bartoli, 6-3, 6-3, in last night's quarterfinals at the Sony Ericsson Open at Key Biscayne. Azarenka had won 26 consecutive matches, a streak that began at the start of this year. Venus Williams looked weary Wednesday after winning three consecutive three-set matches, and she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-4, 6-1. The tournament at Key Biscayne was Williams' first since the U.S. Open last August, where she withdrew after being diagnosed with a fatigue-causing autoimmune disease. In the men's quarterfinals, 2009 champion Andy Murray overcame an upset stomach and early deficit to beat No. 9-seeded Janko Tipsarevic, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
