James has 51 points as Heat beats Magic

LeBron James had 51 points, including a 23-point first quarter, to lead Miami to a 104-100 victory over Orlando last night. It was a season high for James, whose scoring effort tied for the fifth-most points of his career. James made each of his first 11 attempts and didn't miss a shot until 4:55 remained in the second quarter. James wound up shooting 17-for-25. Heat guard Dwyane Wade, who scored 15 points, missed most of the third quarter with a lower back bruise after taking a hard foul from Magic center Dwight Howard. He returned to start the fourth quarter.

Garnett picked for All-Stars a 14th timeBoston's Kevin Garnett matched an NBA record with his 14th straight selection to the All-Star Game when he was picked as an Eastern Conference reserve, one of a record-tying four Boston Celtics headed for Los Angeles Feb. 20. Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen will accompany Garnett. Los Angeles Clippers rookie Blake Griffin was added to the Western Conference team as a reserve along with Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili of the NBA-leading Spurs, forwards Dirk Nowitzki of Dallas and Pau Gasol of the Lakers, and guards Deron Williams of Utah and Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City. The other Eastern Conference reserves are Atlanta's Joe Johnson and Al Horford and Miami's Chris Bosh. The reserves were selected in voting by the head coaches.

NHLThree fights in four seconds in Bruins' win

Patrice Bergeron had two goals to lift the Boston Bruins to a fight-filled 6-3 victory over the Dallas Stars. In the first four seconds of the game, there were three separate fights. The Stars' Steve Ott bloodied Gregory Campbell one second after the puck was dropped. That was followed by Boston's Shawn Thornton pounding Stars forward Krys Barch one second later. And then Boston's Adam McQuaid fought Brian Sutherby four seconds in.
