Roethlisberger practices
Ben Roethlisberger returned to the practice field Tuesday for the first time since the Steelers' two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback was suspended six games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. He last practiced April 20, the day before he was disciplined by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Kiwanuka's brother
in stable condition
Mathias Kiwanuka is expected to return to OTAs sometime this week after his brother Benedict was severely injured in a motorcycle accident while the two were riding in Indianapolis on Friday. Originally listed in critical condition, Benedict Kiwanuka has been upgraded to stable, according to the Giants. Mathias Kiwanuka was not injured.
Lidstrom stays
Star defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, the team announced, instead of hanging up his skates at the age of 40.

St. John's hires Hicks
St. John's announced the hiring of Mo Hicks as director of basketball operations. Hicks, 46, spent the last 16 seasons as head coach at Rice High School. He was 352-86 and won five state Federation titles. Hicks also served as program director for the New York Gauchos, widely viewed as the top AAU program in the area.
Meyer's diagnosis
Florida football coach Urban Meyer said doctors have diagnosed the chest pain that bothered him the last three years as esophageal spasms. He declined to further discuss his health but said he is taking medication and that his heart is healthy.
