Diego Maradona is out as Argentina's soccer coach. The Argentine Football Association said Tuesday it would not renew his contract. He had spent an erratic 21 months in charge of a national team that was eliminated in the World Cup quarterfinals with a 4-0 loss to Germany. The federation had offered Maradona a four-year contract to continue through the 2014 World Cup. Maradona said he would stay only if his entire staff remained. Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer is recovering from an ankle injury that has sidelined the 3-year-old colt for the rest of the year. The racing manager for the farm that owns Drosselmeyer said the injury was discovered about a month after the colt's three-quarter length win in the Belmont on June 5.

Ex-Jet Galbreath dies

NFL veteran offensive lineman Harry Galbreath, who ended his career with the Jets, has died. He was 45. His death was announced by the University of Tennessee athletic department. Galbreath was selected by Miami in the eighth round of the 1988 NFL draft after playing for Tennessee. He was named to the NFL's rookie team that season. He spent five seasons with the Dolphins, three with the Green Bay Packers and two with the Jets before retiring at the end of the 1997 season.
