Springs School Voters Guide 2010

THE BUDGET
The district is proposing a budget of $22,493,083 for the 2010-11 school year, an increase of 4.77 percent over the current budget of $21,468,453. The tax levy would rise to $20,233,602, an increase of 4.86 percent over the current figure of $19,296,483.
The average homeowner with a home with an assessed valuation of $6,100 would pay $4,761 in school taxes, an increase of 4.84 percent over the current figure of $4,541.
The proposed budget also includes estimated increased in teacher salaries subject to negotiations later this year, and the elimination of three teachers and 3.5 other positions.
In addition to the proposed budget, the ballot includes a referendum for Springs to enter into contracts with the Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor school districts - in addition to its existing contract with the East Hampton School District - to act as receiving districts for Springs students in grades 9-12 during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years.
