The Knicks grabbed an early 7-point advantage, but the Spurs responded behind former Rutgers star Dylan Harper and finished the first quarter with a 27-19 lead.
Harper, the son of five-time NBA champion Derek Harper, led the Spurs with 10 points on 3-of-3 shooting. Former St. John's star Julian Champagnie chipped in with 6 points.
The big story, however, is the status of Jalen Brunson, who left the game late in the first quarter after injuring his right knee.
