The East End Emerald Society, an Irish American tradition on Long Island, continues with another tradition with their annual Jamesport St. Patrick's Day Parade. Festivities kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, rain or shine and features marchers, pipers and music. Riverhead community development administrator Dawn Thomas will be the grand marshal on the route that travels from Main Road and Washington Avenue down Main to Manor Lane.

About a dozen family members brought signs and music to the St. Patrick's Day Parade route in Cutchogue on March 9, to surprise their "Nana," who was marching in the parade for the first time. Philomena Kilcommons, 76, of Southold, far right, came to Long Island from Ireland in 1959. Usually, she said, her grandchildren would march in the parade, but she decided to march this year instead with her exercise class, North Fork Bodies in Motion.
