The New York State Department of Financial Services has set up a Hurricane Sandy Response Center in Merrick to assist residents and business owners who were affected by the storm, according to state Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. (R-Merrick).

Department of Financial Services representatives will be at the Merrick Jewish Centre, 225 Fox Blvd., daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice.

Residents and business owners who need assistance with storm-related insurance issues will be able to speak individually with a financial services department representative.

Individuals unable to visit the help center but needing assistance can call the department’s storm assistance consumer help line at 800-339-1759.
