Storm-battered New Yorkers whose home appliances were damaged by tropical storms Irene and Lee can get rebates to replace refrigerators, washers, dryers and hot water tanks.
The state has set aside $8 million for the rebate program, announced by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.
The rebates range from $100 for a dehumidifier to up to $2,500 to replace a boiler. Except for dehumidifiers, purchases must be for replacement purposes and not be covered by insurance or FEMA.
Grants will be available Monday at NYSApplianceRebates.com or by calling 877-NY-SMART (877-697-6278). Rebates will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until program funding has been exhausted.
