Some state parks will offer new outdoor recreational classes and programs beginning Sept. 8.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has partnered with the outdoor retailer REI to expand the office’s outdoor recreation programs. REI will conduct outdoor school programs in five state parks: Belmont Lake State Park in West Babylon and four in the Hudson Valley.

Offerings will include lessons in map and compass navigation, outdoor photography, and excursions such as overnight backpacking and hiking trips. To register, visit rei.com/outdoorschool.
