Stephen Colbert asks David Letterman for tips
Before handing over the treasured late-night slot, Stephen Colbert said David Letterman left him with some words of wisdom.
"I had a very nice conversation with Dave," he told Extra! on Monday.
"I asked him a bunch of stuff that may not even mean much to a general audience, because at one point I said, about thirty minutes in, I said, 'Do you mind me asking all these questions?' and he said 'No, no one's ever asked me these questions before . . . '"
The two spoke about everything from the angle of the desk to how to operate the stage's freight elevator, questions Colbert said Letterman was surprised to hear. Colbert must've had all the right queries!
