STEPHEN L. UKEILEYDEMOCRATICBACKGROUND: Ukeiley, 43, of East Setauket, is running on the Democratic and Working Families lines. He was appointed acting County Court judge in January, and currently is presiding judge for Suffolk County's Human Trafficking Court. Ukeiley has been a Suffolk County District Court judge since 2009. He served as law clerk for U.S. Magistrate Judge E. Thomas Boyle from 1996 to 1997. Ukeiley was a partner at Jaspan Schlesinger LLP, of Garden City, where he worked from 1997 to 2000, and from 2003 to 2008. He is an adjunct professor of law at Touro College and New York Institute of Technology. He received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in 1983 and his law degree from Hofstra Law School in 1996. Ukeiley was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1997. He is a member of the board of directors of the Suffolk County Women's Bar Association and chairs its Mentoring Committee. He is a member of the executive committee of the Alexander Hamilton American Inn of Court (Suffolk County) and an advisory committee member of the Suffolk Academy of Law, the educational branch of the Suffolk County Bar Association. Ukeiley is co-chairman of the Suffolk County Bar Association's Landlord and Tenant Law Committee.
